About Qbeast

Qbeast is a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) with an innovative approach to Big Data. Qbeast's data storage technology organizes and manages data in the way our brain consumes it, providing great insights while accessing only the minimum quantity of raw data, something we call Data Leverage.

The Opportunity

We are actively looking for a Front-end Developer to create the user interfaces of our data products. As the first Front-end Developer of the company, you will have to take major decisions that involve usability and design besides technical choices.

We want you...

To work on the design and development of our services, building the user interfaces mostly from scratch. Extend our Big Data software to create an engaging user experience.

Some of your tasks will involve:

• Develop and maintain the UI and frontend SDKs
• Collaborate with the business, technical, and marketing employees
  
• Create reusable components with React and Vue
• Write unit and integration tests and ensure code quality
  
• Take part in code reviews, document, and work in an organized way

To be in the team, we ask for...

• 3+ years of experience in Front-end software development or a similar role 
  
• English proficient at work
• University degree in STEM
• Advanced knowledge of JavaScript and how a browser works
• Experience with React, React Hooks, Redux, VueJS, webpack or npm
• Pixel perfect CSS
• Proficiency with Git
• Creativity for design and good user experience (UI/UX design knowledge)
• Well-organized, able to follow agile methodologies, and capable of organizing the work
• Willing to keep learning, sharing knowledge, and supporting other members of the team

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in product design
  
• Some experience in languages like Java/Ruby/C++/C# or equivalent
• Knowledge of Web APIs / Web technologies
• Experience in A/B testing
• WebGL or Canvas experience
  

Our tech stack

• We are developing a revolutionary storage technology that will power data analytics for different processing frameworks, starting with Apache Spark.

• Our programming languages are mainly Python, Scala, Java, Rust and Js.
